^{^^The American Red Cross will offer hemoglobin A1C (A1C) testing, commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes, to all donors who successfully give blood, platelets or plasma Aug. 1-31, 2025. Fasting is NOT required. Donors will need to have a successful donation to receive A1C results, because only successful donations are sent to our laboratory for testing. Donors will receive one (1) test result in a 12-month period. Testing result will be available in one (1) to two (2) weeks through the Red Cross Blood Donor App or a donor’s account at RedCrossBlood.org. A donor’s A1C test result or any other test result will not be released without written permission unless required by law. If a donor does not wish to have their donation tested for A1C, they are encouraged to make an appointment before or after testing will be offered in August. Total American Red Cross donation attempts, up to thirty (30) attempts for platelets, thirteen (13) attempts for plasma donations, ten (10) attempts for whole blood donations and five (5) attempts for Power Red donations within a rolling 365-day period will be awarded points.
